In order to be sure you get the best care possible, I typically start out with a thorough biopsychosocial assessment early on in treatment. I want to understand your experiences from your perspective, and it is important to me that you feel understood, supported, and “heard”.
I will collaborate with you to find tools that are most effective for helping you on your journey to living to your potential. I have extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, which can be effective in helping people to better understand the role that their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions play in their functioning. This approach to therapy provides patients with tools that will help them to confidently face life’s obstacles. I also have been influenced by Carl Rogers and his client-centered approach to therapy, which emphasizes treating every client with compassion, empathy, and what Rogers called “unconditional positive regard”.
I strive to keep myself updated on the latest research and to educate myself on additional techniques that can assist clients. Along with the aforementioned traditional modalities,I earned my Advanced Practicioner certification from the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a promising new treatment that incorporates cognitive behavioral methods with mind-body tools for healing. Another treatment I incorporate is Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy, which uses deep relaxation and guided imagery during the treatment process. I earned my certification in hypnotherapy through the Wellness Institute (Issaquah, Washington) at the Cleveland Clinic. I also have received training from experts in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma and addiction.
